It will come as no surprise that the administration’s persistent bullying continues to escalate, but this is a serious situation largely ignored by the media. A spotlight must be directed at a new move from the Pentagon, where the DOD Secretary continues to demonstrate how woefully incompetent and dangerously reckless he truly is.

As of late Thursday, February 26, the Pentagon, under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, is reportedly pressuring AI company, Anthropic to remove safety guardrails from its Claude model, threatening to label the firm a “supply chain risk” or invoke the Defense Production Act if it does not comply. The Defense Production Act (DPA) of 1950 grants the U.S. President emergency authority to compel private industry to prioritize and produce materials for national defense, including during disasters and pandemics.

The dispute centers on Anthropic’s refusal to allow its technology to be used for AI-controlled weapons or mass surveillance.
