Speaker Johnson's Worlds Collide: Epstein, Shutdown and Rep Grijalva
Whew boy, Mike has some trouble right now. He is between a rock and a bed of knives.
On one hand, Trump has told him that under no circumstances can the bill requiring the Epstein Files come to the House floor. On the other hand, everyone in country is asking him to negotiate with the Democrats, save healthcare and end the shutdown. And then there is the inevitability, at some point, the Speaker must install Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva from AZ, who recently won in a special election. But as soon as he provides her with the oath of office, then she becomes the deciding vote (218th) to pass the Epstein Files bill.

And then of course, there is the need to vote on a short term bill, which both Dems and GOPers want, in order to allow the military to receive paychecks as soon as possible.
