I’m one of those small donors to Independent Dan Osborn’s campaign. I don’t live in Nebraska, yet I feel strongly that the Republican running should go. Definitely time to get big money out of politics and get some new blood in government positions.

I agree with getting rid of all PACs and creating a strong third party. But I disagree with your rhetoric and opinions about our current billionaires, and your condemnation of those "robber barons' in the past who made USA a strongest nation in the world.

Thanks. While I think some of the robber barons and billionaires have built strong businesses and jobs. I also think we have an issue with extreme greed in this country as we did then. Please reread/ I did not categorically condemn all. However, I will say that going back to the gilded age, we have let corporate titans frequently buy elections, suppress wages and create an unfair economy. Had we had checks on them, I think the economy would have not been as lopsided now . It is also not unfair to point out Musk and Bezos have treated their workers poorly, gouged consumers and more. So did the robber barons in this piece. That said industrialization was in incredibly important, it just could have been a great deal fairer.i am a capitalist, but will fight greed, gouging and unfair behavior wherever it exists.

No offense, but Prager is not fully accredited, is laughed at by most academics and is highly associated with the far right. Of course it was not that all industrialists were bad. I am talking about fairness and moderation . I suggest you look at Prager’s background. It is merely a pay for your degree type if institution

I disagree fully based on top academia and business researchers, but if that is your opinion, I can appreciate that is your lens and respect your option to share your opinion here.

I would submit that your "interpretation" comes from your personal ideology rather historical study. There are few, if any, historians who would agree with you.

I actually was a history major in college, and agree with you that my opinion is clouded by my personal ideology, and the opinion of every historian too. How about this:

Watched your video. Disregarded the Prager sponsorship and tried to keep an open mind. I recommend you watch American Experience's documentary on The Gilded Age. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjpYzFtxfjU

Just fyi, to be clear that Prager is not just a sponsor, this is their academic presentation. They are not accredited. American Experience is more credible.

I will watch that video , Steve. Thanks. Again, I agree with you and Marie on the need to eliminate Pacs , mainly because our politicians are so greedy.

You are so right. I think we, the people, are tired of the millionaires having so much power because of their money so they can buy whatever or whoever they want. I am not in Nebraska but I am aware of Dan Osborn & he seems to be a breath of fresh air. I hope he beats Deb Fisher on Nov 5.

Great video, Steve. very informative, accurate and balanced, with without name-calling. I worked for50 year a company that began in 1889, and I became the company historian, so to speak, as I was custodian of all the old records. The company is still thriving today, owned by the same family. It makes air moving equipment, and made a lot of money during the gilded age, supplying pneumatic messaging systems for large enterprises, like Sears, ventilating systems for building and schools, and steam engines that propelled the trolleys which were towed by underground cables. I( treated its workers like family. It did not lay off one worker during the Depression though business dried up almost completely. The workers were not saints and made mistakes, but from my reading and knowing the family I knew they newer go people. So I get upset when I see people being called names and shamed by people who don't know them, who never walked in their shoes. And then to call Musk, Bezos, and Zuckerman robber barons, I find is insane, and really, evidence of envy.
