Haha, I felt it was obvious my percentages were stated as a sarcastic comment. But because I appreciate that you took the time to reply I would love to have a serious discussion. The problem with your sourced material is that it’s misleading. An ar-15 or similar semi automatic weapon? Similar in what way? That they are semi auto? Or that they are rifles? Or that they are actually similar to an ar-15? An ar-15 is not a semi auto rifle, it’s an automatic. And it’s a heck of a process to purchase one anywhere in our country. And it’s absolutely not used in a majority of mass shootings. Now a semi auto on the other hand, those are. But a semi auto is anything from an ar-15 clone that fires one round per trigger pull to a Glock handgun, which also fires one round per trigger pull. And because this is 2024 most new firearms in productions from handguns to rifles and a great many shotguns are semi auto. If anyone really wanted to combat the problem of gun violence, and it is a problem, the realistic gun to ban (and for the record I don’t agree with this) would be semi auto handguns. They are used in far more crimes than rifles because they are easier for criminals to conceal. But no one argues about banning handguns because it doesn’t have that sexy “let’s get the people arguing about guns” appeal.
