When A Supreme Court Justice Has Wept About Recent Decisions, We're In Unchartered Waters
The Chilling Combination of Recent SCOTUS Decisions and Project 2025
When a justice of the Supreme Court of the United States Says “she cried” after multiple decisions, we have reason to be concerned and it is not alarmist to say we are in trouble.
Quick recap on some of the recent SCOTUS Decisions:
Any official acts conducted by the president are immune from prosecution
Federal agencies do not have power and their expertise can be overridden
Bribery legalized
Unhoused Americans will be fined if they set up camp outside
Asked a lower court to review prosecution of insurrectionists
In a nutshell, this effectively makes the office of the president a supreme ruler and king.
Those decisions coupled with Trump’s gaslighting at debate, offering lies such as, everyone “wanted abortion rights be decided by the states”, have Americans who believe in the constitution simply reeling and spinning. For the party of “originalists” and “constitution-focused”, they are clearly operating with Opposite Day rules.
The topper? The far right has created Project 2025, the playbook to authoritarian rule. As a refresh, that stew of toxicity looks like this:
National Abortion Ban
Restrict IVF Access
Family Separation
Muslim Ban
Tax Cuts for the Ultra-Wealthy
Eliminate and Reverse LGBTQ Rights
Replace All Civil Servants with MAGA loyalists
Guns In Classrooms
Ordering the Prosecution of Political Opponents
In other words, SCOTUS built the highway for authoritarianism and the radically-far right Heritage Foundation gassed up the car, which is ready and waiting to implement this laundry list of fascism if they elect Trump.
We need an intervention.
Every constitutional and Supreme Court scholar, I’ve seen across the political spectrum seem to agree these 6 justices in the majority (Alito, Roberts, Coney Barrett, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Roberts) have broken their oath to be impartial, follow the law and not politics, in some form or fashion.
Sounds like a dumpster fire? Well, not yet and we do have many things we can get focused on ASAP.
1. Independent voters can solidly lineup and vote democratic at the ballot box up and down all of government. Call your indie friends now.
2. Democratic voters need to decide if President Biden moves forward, or if another is nominated. Regardless, get behind whomever the Dem nominee is and go.
3. Make sure everyone you have ever seen, spoken to, is related to you, is your neighbor or simply breathes is registered to vote and commits to voting for democracy.
Now, if Democrats win in the Fall, we need to have legislation ready and waiting. We will also need reform, a better electoral strategy and farm league.
First up: Expand SCOTUS. Yes, it is constitutional. While expanding the number of justices on the U.S. Supreme Court is not explicitly set in the Constitution, it does leave the precise number of justices to be determined by Congress. The number of justices has fluctuated throughout history, from as few as 5 to as many as 10. However, the current number of 9 justices has remained constant since 1869. While there is nothing in the Constitution that prohibits changing the number of justices, it would require legislation to do so.
Secondly, Democrats need to engage rural America, starting caring and being active in all judge/judicial races up and down the ballot as well as working hard on getting liberal candidates elected to school boards, township boards, statehouses and all local races to create a real farm league that ultimately goes to Congress.
Now we know why we all need to act, so hopefully soon we will know if we continue with President Biden or other. Whoever it is, we need to get behind them and get to work. If you know anybody who says, “I’m tired”, “I’m out” or “nothing will ever change no matter who is in the presidency”, please share the new cold dish called, “The Conservo-SCOTUS and Project 2025 Stew”. I don’t think they will like that mash-up.
Let’s go.
Project 2025 is fascism being sold to the maga fools as way back to the leave it to beaver, John Wayne movie , delusional take on the American dream. Nice time for rich white folks , ...maybe. I remember the draft, any boy who wasn't going to college or wasn't rich was sent to Viet Nam to get gunned down for nothing. How about 4 kids gunned down by the national guard at Kent state. President Kennedy assassinated. Robert Kennedy assassinated. Reverend King assassinated.Poverty in Appalachia. Racist murders in the South. Civil rights atrocities. Cops were called pigs. G. I.s were spit on. Nixon! And I remember being drilled as a school kid to hide under my desk if an h bomb went off. Make America great again my ass
